Short Hair Is Fresh and Young

Remember the first time you saw women opting for shorter and shorter hair? I must confess it was like a revolution and surprise for me. It felt just like a breath of fresh air and a revolution from old conceptions between long hairs and a woman's beauty. Maybe we were getting used to very long hairs, in the 80's even men had long hairs, and it looked fashionable, irreverent and... well, not anymore. Back to our subject at hand: my question is "what is behind the attraction of short hair styles for women?"

Healthy and Beautiful

A beautiful short hair depends much if it is healthy and how it is taken care of. It may sound like short hairs are easier to care for, keep clean and arrange on a daily basis, just because they are short. But the attentions they require are the same as long hairs. Shorter hairs have more movement and they fit a personal image of someone who is energetic and full of life. In fact, it is all about how a short hair makes you feel. If you feel beautiful with shorter hair, more confident, then it will look beautiful.

Short hairs enhance your face features. Shorter hair styles will leave space to focus attention in your face. A careful combination of make-up to enhance your eyes, lips, tone of skin and overall face structure, and your short hair, will knock out anyone that comes across you. Above all, it will free your emotions and the way your face transmits them, there are no long tresses of hair to hide a beautiful smile or a sassy look.

Short To Long in Minutes

Short hair styles also have an advantage that has been gaining momentum lately, the use of accessories like hair extensions, fake pony tails and colorful wigs. There is so much versatility behind the usage of accessories with a short hair, that one day you can be this long hair, "red carpet" looking women, and the next day you are a young, "on the go" women with short hair. The options are endless and can dazzle and bedazzle whoever dares to lay their eyes on you.

Not only accessories can help you achieve the look you want, but also some tools are indispensable to have in your bathroom closet. Ceramic flat irons, they are easy and safe to use, with the necessary cautions, and can straighten your hair in a few minutes. A good comb or brush is essential to brush your hair and lead it to where you want it. For shorter hairs it is good to buy one with longer bristles, they will help stimulate your scalp and distribute the natural oils. You can buy a couple of colorful wigs, wear them to match you personal mood for that day: darker for emotional, lighter for happy moods and bright green just for the fun of wearing it.

There are lots of advantages to have short hair, but the most important is that it will make you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful. Short hair styles are an expression of freedom from old concepts of beauty; they are also an expression a woman's affirmation of her inner "femme fatale".

How to Cut Hair

If you've thought of cutting hair, you're probably wondering how to do it. Whether you just want to trim your child's bangs, cut your friend's shaggy locks shorter or get into haircutting professionally, there are some steps and tips you can follow to get it right.

How to Cut Hair
Preparation and Basic Trimming

Step 1 :
Make sure you have high-quality hair-cutting equipment, the most important being professional scissors for cutting hair. Other supplies might include a comb, a brush, a razor, hair clips, water spray, hair dryer and styling products. For just starting out, however, a pair of scissors, comb or brush, clips and water spray will suffice.

Step 2 :
Make sure the hair is dry before trimming or cutting, because wet hair tends to elongate.

Step 3 :
Establish a line for how much hair to cut off with the "client." Let them show you how much they want taken off.

Step 4 :
Brush the hair to remove tangles. Divide longer hair into approximately two-inch sections, twisting and separating with clips. Work from the hair closest to the nape of the neck first, moving outward. Have the "client" sit still with their head straight and forward.

Step 5 :
Trim the sectioned-off hair with the scissors along the established line, being careful to move in a straight, fluid motion. Let out a new section of hair, brush and then cut to match the length.

Step 6 :
Use clippers with a blade for trimming around the ears for men or women with short hair, and fold the ears down.

Practicing Different Styles

Step 1 :
Learn about different hairstyles in addition to the basic trim or cut. Study hairstyle magazines and how-to guides as well as Web sites online dedicated to helping you learn, step-by-step, how to cut many of the popular hairstyles.

Step 2 :
Practice cutting hair on dummy models with wigs. See if you can take some from your local beauty college, or buy some from a second-hand shop, or a garage sale. Try looking for dummies and wigs separately.

Step 3 :
Practice on your closest friends and family members after you have gained some confidence. Choose people who are willing to get a "real" haircut afterward, if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

1. If you want to start cutting hair professionally, you need to familiarize yourself with all the latest hairstyles and hair trends to stay competitive.

2. Consider enrolling in a hairstylist or hair-cutting program at a local beauty college if you want to become a professional. Most of these certification programs are short and fairly inexpensive.

3. Check with some local salons and even professional hairstylists who may be offering short courses or one-day workshops on haircutting.

Short Hair Styles That Are Trendy in 2010

If you are thinking of leaving your hair grow longer, think again. Short is in, long is out in 2010. This is the year of short and crazy hair styled in various ways, starting from the typical bob, pixie and edgy short.

Short Hairstyle 2010Just watch a bit the latest fashion shows on the television network or the gossip column pictures in the magazines. Most of the stars have cut their hair shorter than they used to have before. Ease of wear and convenience are two main phrases that are this year associated with the new hot trend. It does help that many women actually improve their appearances by wearing their mane short due to their face sculpture. While long is good for some, short is good for most.

Short Hairstyle 2010The most typical hairstyle associated with short hair is the well known bob. This one is really a style that is well suited for any woman, no matter the age or face traits. With a longer face, go for a longer bob. And if you have straight mane, the bob is definitely for you. You don't even have to style it, as it sits just the way it should. If you're 'unlucky' to have curly locks, there is no need to worry either. With the many hair-straightening products available today, there is no reason not to go for bob, none at all. Nicole Richie is a prime example of wearing this style just now. A particular variant of it is the inverted bob. Check out photos of Audrey Tautou to see what I mean.

Short Hairstyle 2010The pixie cut is a hairstyle that can be recreated by cutting the hair really thin alongside the ears. This is made to have the short mane very close to the head. You might want to have longer locks in the back or at the sides, but avoid having them longer in the front. Just check some of Katie Holmes' recent photos at Google images and you'll see my point. Really cute this one!

The edgy short hairstyle is a technique that again Victoria Beckham has brought into spotlight. While some people shy away from this as they feel their face becomes sharper and less feminine, this is in fact not true. You can have a softer cut or a highly strung hairstyle, all depending on what will match best your personality and the shape of your face. Don't be afraid to experiment and discuss with your hairstylist the options available to you to get the maximum of this new gorgeous look.

To style your hair properly you will need to choose between the many types of hair blow dryers. If you are like most of us, with less time on your hands, the wall mounted hair dryers will be most suitable. Visit my website to learn more on the benefits of using one.
